Xiaomi Mi 4 16GB gets Rs.5000 price cut now available for Rs.14999

Chinese tech company Xiaomi has slashed the price of its Mi 4 16GB model in India by Rs.5,000. The Mi 4 16GB variant is now available for Rs.14,999, down Rs.5,000 from the original launch price of Rs.19,999.

Xiaomi is celebrating 1 crore Mi 4 phone sold worldwide, hence the price drop. The announcement was made by Hugo Barra, vice president of Xiaomi Global at an event in New Delhi. The Mi 4 has received a great response from buyers in India and lower costs have now enabled Xiaomi to reduce the price of the handset, said the company.

The Mi 4 comes with a 5-inch IPS FullHD display with a pixel density of 441ppi. “The Mi 4 now comes with the all-new Sunlight Display, which dynamically adjusts the contrast of each pixel for crystal-clear images even under direct sunlight,” the company announced. The Sunlight Display technology was first seen in the company’s Mi 4i handset.

The company had only recently slashed the price of the 64GB variant of the Mi 4 in India by Rs.4,000. The handset that was originally launched here at a price of Rs.23,999 now retails at Rs.19,999.

The revised prices therefore now stand at: Rs.14,999 for the 16GB Mi 4 and Rs.19,999 for the 64GB Mi 4.

Both the variants are now available for purchase via Flipkart and Xiaomi’s own Mi.com online store. Further, you don’t have to register to buy these handsets as they are now available via open sale in India.

The Mi 4 is Xiaomi’s current flagship model that is powered by a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor coupled with 3GB RAM. The 4G LTE supporting handset runs Android 4.4.4 KitKat-based MIUI 6 on top. It sports a 13MP rear and an 8MP front-facing camera.

There’s no slot for expandable memory and the device is backed by a 3,080mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 2.0.
