We had earlier reported that Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan’s life will be made into a biopic, with Vijay Sethupathi(VSP) playing the legendary spinner on screen. After the announcement of the film was made, Tamil political outfits started opposing Vijay Sethupathi for his decision to play Sri Lankan cricketer Muralitharan. The latest reports are that Vijay Sethupathi has opted out of ‘800‘ due to respect for the Tamils of Sri Lanka. An official announcement has not been made by the makers yet.
It may be recalled that Vijay Sethupathi, while commenting about the project, had said, “Muralitharan is an iconic sportsman of Tamil origin; he’s someone who’s made his mark across the world. I am sure portraying Murali is going to be a challenge for me. But I’m looking forward to it. I am delighted that Murali himself will be closely involved with the making of the film and will be guiding me on the cricketing aspects.”
Actor Rana Daggubati along with Suresh Productions will co-produce upcoming biopic on Sri Lankan spin legend Muthiah Muralitharan in association with DAR Motion Pictures. The film, which has been written by M.S.Sripathy, will be made in Tamil and released in several languages across the world.Source:Entertainment
