CHENNAI: Passengers can now book tickets on buses of the State Express Transport Corporation and other corporations in the state from the comfort of their homes or offices. They can also book the tickets over the phone. Chief minister J Jayalalithaa formally launched the online e-ticket facility at the Secretariat on Monday, an official press release said.
Presently, about one lakh people travel by state government buses daily with the SETC alone operating about 1,000 services.
Pallavan Transport Consultancy Services ( PTCS) created www.tnstc.in for e-payment for all long-distance buses. The new system has been integrated with the existing Online Ticket Reservation System in 56 centres across the state, allowing passengers to book tickets 30 days in advance from anywhere in the world.
