Maruti falls to recall 33098 units of Alto 800 & Alto K10

The company has added that there is no concern if the right hand side door, both front and rear, is completely latched. If the door is half-latched, then the door may open if pressure is applied from inside, it said.

Shares of  Maruti were under pressure in early trade on Wednesday. The auto-major will recall 33098 units including 19780 units of Alto 800 and 13318 units of Alto K10, citing problems in right hand door latch assembly.

“Maruti will proactively inspect and replace the right hand door latch assembly manufactured between 8 December and 18 February. Maruti Suzuki dealers in the domestic market will contact owners of all the affected vehicles. The dealer workshop technicians will inspect the condition and carry out the necessary replacement, free of cost,” it said in a statement to the bourses.

However, the company has added that there is no concern if the right hand side door, both front and rear, is completely latched.  If the door is half-latched, then the door may open if pressure is applied from inside, it said.

Since April, this is Maruti’s third recall. It had recalled 103311 units of  Ertiga, Swift and DZire, manufactured between 12 November 2013 and 4 February 2014 to replace the faulty fuel filler neck (the tube leading down to the fuel tank).

At 09:27 hrs Maruti Suzuki India was quoting at Rs 3,624.00, down Rs 24.30, or 0.67 percent on the BSE.
