It’s just been three days since Sushil Kumar, who made history by being the first person to win `5 crore on ” Kaun Banega Crorepati 5″, returned to his hometown Motihari, but he is already planning to shift base to Delhi.
Sushil says he is not planning on coming to Delhi on a sightseeing tour, but stay here while he prepares for competitive exams. The jackpot winner will soon be joining his relatives and friends (four members) who stay in a two-room apartment in the city where the monthly rent amounts to `2000. Even though Sushil can now afford to stay in a plush and well-furnished apartment at any posh location in the city, he chooses not to make any such decision. “I will be coming to Delhi to ensure I get the right atmosphere and have access to right books and study material to do well in UPSC exams. And I will be staying with my friends and relatives in Mukherjee Nagar. Aur jitna kiraya wohh log dete honge, utna hi hum denge. Aisa nahin hai ki game show jeetne ke baad fizool ke kharche karoon. I hope, my landlord doesn’t charge me more money just because I won “KBC”,” says Sushil.
Wouldn’t his wife be accompanying him to the city? “I don’t think that will be possible. As I mentioned earlier, I want to slog to ensure I crack the exam. I want my wife to also prepare to do study further. So, she will also be busy doing any course she has interest in.
But this is confirmed that for some time, both of us will only be concentrating on academic success. But if I have the option to take someone along to London (which is likely to happen for the shoot of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?”), I will take my wife.”
Reacting to his overnight success and fame, Sushil says, “Arrey main toh chaar din ka Shah Rukh Khan hoon. Achcha chaliye aath din ka SRK hoon. I don’t want this success to affect me much. I want to live my life the way I have been living all these years – in a simple way. Koi fizool kharcha nahin karunga.”
So is this shift permanent? “I have no plans to shift to any big city as I want to stay with my family in Motihari. My immediate plan is to construct a new house for my family, not at any other location, but where we’re staying currently.”
