Two songs from Dhanush‘s film with Vetri Maaran, Asuran, are all set to be launched today. The film’s music director, GV PrakashKumar, tells us what the album of the most awaited film has in store.
“Asuran’s music will be rooted, with raw folk being the dominant element, with earthy songs… Mansaarndha paadalgal dhaan irukkum,” says Prakash. Given that the combo of Vetri Maaran, Dhanush and himself had already given a rustic album in Aadukalam, quiz him how different this one will be, and he says, “Aadukalam, too, was a raw folk album, so there might be a few overlapping elements, considering the setting here is also similar — Tirunelveli. But the approach is international. The thought process was about mixing folk and world music; the voices will be folk, but the instrumentation will have an international flavor, like using an electric guitar with this raw folk… I have treated it like a Coke Studio project. That will be exciting for fans and listeners,” he predicts.
Talking about the songs in the album, he says, “There are four songs. Dhanush and I have sung one together, a philosophical track titled Polladha Bhoomi. It will be a raw folk song. Katharipoovazhagi will be an energetic folk song… a kuthu song with class. Velmurugan and Rajalakshmi have sung this number along with a new singer.” These two songs are being released today. In addition to these, Saindhavi has sung one song, a sad number, which will have “an international feel”, adds Prakash. The fourth and final more song is likely to be sung by Arunraja Kamaraj.Source:Entertainment
