Sony’s PlayStation 3 is internet-enabled, but gamers have always been unsatisfied with the rather inadequate browser pre-installed on the console. That might now be changing, with rumours on the internet suggesting Google Chrome could be on its way to the device.
This was first reported on gaming forum NeoGAF, with member androvsky posting about stuff he had stumbled upon on the PS3’s online webkit source. He said, “I’m going through ps3-webkit-support.diff because I’m bored. Looks like we’re actually getting Chrome, since Geoff’s added a couple of files for ChromeClientPOSIX.
There’s a lot of functions that aren’t implemented, but they’re mainly ones that involve windowing that you wouldn’t expect to be supported on the PS3.
