Hyundai ix25 for India, Hyundai Creta has been revealed by new spy shots of uncamouflaged test mule. The trial prototype seems to be very close to production model, so expect bare minimum or no changes in the Creta that will be arriving in showrooms next month, compared to the pre-production test mule in spy shots.
Hyundai Creta is a global model based on Hyundai ix25 sold in China since last year. Except for a few finer details, exterior of Creta is a photocopy of the ix25. The differences are, chrome coated front grille as opposed to grey finished slats on ix25, and a striking chrome trim at the rear-end on top of number plate recess. Based on Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language, which even the Hyundai Elite i20 is based on, Hyundai Creta gets an audacious snout and bulky yet athletic body that culminates at a somewhat sporty rear-end.
That is, the 1.6 litre VTVT petrol engine, and 1.4 litre and 1.6 litre diesel engines. Gasoline version would be equipped with 5-speed manual transmission, while both the motors powered by the thicker fuel would be mated to 6-speed gearboxes. Automatic variants too are expected. To be launched after its chief-rival-to-be, Maruti S-Cross, Hyundai Creta will also face tough competition from higher variants of Ford EcoSport, Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano, Mahindra XUV500, Mahindra Scorpio and the like.
