MUMBAI: If you are staying in the western or eastern suburbs of Mumbai, from now on you will receive your driving licence and RC (registration certificate) book for new cars by Speed Post from Sunday.
The Andheri and Wadala RTOs have liaisoned with the postal department and will dispatch the first lot of 2,000 licences and RC books this weekend. Henceforth, you will not have to visit the RTO or contact an agent to procure a new licence.
“Citizens can register with the RTO online and take the driving test. Within the next seven to ten days, we will expedite the process of issuing the smartcards (licences) and send them home,” said regional transport officer (Wadala) Vikas Pandkar.
