NEW DELHI: In its first chargesheet in the 2G spectrum scam, the CBI is expected to establish case of criminal conspiracy against Swan Telecom and Unitech Limited and against the co-accused already is custody – former Telecom Minister A Raja, Swan promoter Shahid Usman Balwa, former Telecom secretary Siddharth Behura and Raja’s private secretary R K Chandolia.
The chargesheet is also expected to establish a case of criminal conspiracy between Shahid Balwa, Raja and Kalaignar television with its CEO Sharad Kumar likely to be held responsible and charged for being part of the conspiracy, CBI sources said.
But what may give some reprieve to DMK patriarch Karunaidhi is that his wife Dayalu Ammal and daughter Kanimozhi are unlikely to be named in the first chargesheet.
“Despite having a majority share, Dayalu Ammal seems to be only a sleeping partner in Kalaignar television,” said sources adding that they are keenly looking at Kanimozhi’s role.
Gearing up to file the chargesheet on March 31 in a Delhi trial court, the CBI will submit a status report, detailing the investigations done in the Supreme Court on March 29, highly-placed CBI sources said.
But the first chargesheet will give only a peep into the vast investigation as it would cover only 10 percent of the findings.
