Cricket World Cup 2011: India coach Gary Kirsten approached by South Africa as BCCI seek replacement

Kirsten had already confirmed during the tournament that he would return to South Africa to spend more time with his family following the World Cup.

And he immediately ruled out a reverse of his decision in the aftermath of India‘s thrilling win over Sri Lanka at a cacaphonous Wankhede Stadium.

“No, I made that decision long back,” the former Protea batsman said. “There is no chance of rethinking my decision. I am going back to South Africa.

“They [South Africa] have approached me but I’ve said I’m not going to make any decisions just yet.

“I need to take some time off and clear my mind for a while after this magnificent journey.”
