Sources disclosed on Thursday that Kanimozhi, daughter of DMK chief and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi, may be questioned before the CBI files the chargesheet in the case by the end of this month.
The CBI is working on the trail of the investment made by Shahid Balwa — who is being investigated in the scam — in Kalaignar TV, in which Kanimozhi holds a stake.
CBI director A P Singh called on Murli Manohar Joshi, chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament, at his office on Thursday. Sources said the meeting was designed to avoid the CBI chief’s appearance before the full-committee given the fact that the agency is investigating the scam under the Supreme Court supervision.
Singh had appeared before the committee last month and maintained that it was wrong to say that the 2G spectrum allocation caused a “zero-loss” to the exchequer.
Meanwhile, the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) formed to probe the scam has asked for all the decisions taken by the Cabinet and the Group of Ministers (GoM) on telecom policies from 1998 to 2009.
