The cast of Rajinikanth’s Darbar includes some popular Bollywood names as well, and among them is Pradeep Kabra. The actor, who’s worked in some prominent Hindi films like Delhi Belly, Dabangg 2, Rowdy Rathore and Simmba, will be seen next in the AR Murugadoss directorial.
“I auditioned for the role, and I guess the director’s team liked my performance. They got me to meet Murugadossji and things fell in place,” says the actor. He plays a comic villain in the film, and has already started shooting for his portions.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that Pradeep is working with Rajinikanth. “I’ve done a few films in the south before, like Settai and Anjaan and the Telugu film Dookudu. My last film in Tamil was Kaala, in which I played Nana Patekar’s aide. I had the opportunity to shoot with Rajini sir then. So, on my first day on the set with him for Darbar, he spotted me. He recognised me among the crowd and waved to me. He said, ‘We’ve worked together’, and I said, ‘Yes sir, Kaala’. It felt so nice that he remembered me from some time ago. He’s like God to so many people. He’s achieved so many things in life and has a huge fan following. But he is very easy-going and extremely humble. When he met me, he first formed his hands into a namaste and then shook my hand. He really didn’t have to do it. But it shows how down-to-earth he is despite reaching such heights in life,” he effuses.
